Distant Thunder Films was started by twin brother Phillip and Joseph Matarrese. The brothers have worked as gaffer and key grip, respectively, for over six years on a range of films, commercials, TV and video projects. They have traveled around the US and the world working on films and have worked with major talents, including Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey, Mark Hamill, Joe Piscopo Paul Sorvino and Ringo Starr.
In 2010, with over 200 combined credits to their name, they began to focus on their own projects, making Slanted
, a short film set in San Francisco. Their other credits include a short film The Heartless
as well as the feature film Love: As You Like It
. They continue to make movie on film.
Mandi Reno has built a freelance career over the last 8 years working in independent film, commercials, and network TV. She has traveling across the country to film festivals and markets, fundraising as a development producer and has traveled overseas selling films in the international arena. Working from the ground up, she has extensive experience in assistant directing, production coordinating, managing, and line producing for both studios and independent companies. She began to produce her own content in 2011 after meeting the Matarrese brothers on acclaimed indie thriller "California Scheming". She has collaborated with them on multiple projects since, including their hacker movie "Algorithm"; historical drama "American Homestead"; and upcoming feature set in Colorado, "Searching For Fortune".
